neue is operated by Alexandra Schwarzwald and Alexander Roth. Both have years long experience in multiple positions and organisations in the type world.
About Alexandra Schwarzwald
Alexandra Schwarzwald is a type designer & typographer and joined neue as business partner in October 2020. She was born and raised in Berlin, Germany. Parallel to her studies in Visual Communication at HTW — University of Applied Science she began her internship at FontShop International as a Font Technician. Subsequently Alexandra supported Monotype’s font marketing teams for brands such as FontShop, FontFont, Linotype, MyFonts and Fonts.com.
In 2018 she became a full-time employee of the Monotype London Office holding the position of a Senior Graphic Designer. Alexandra created visual assets for Monotype’s best-selling releases such as Futura Now™, Helvetica® Now, Macklin™, Walbaum, Madera® and Unitext™ among others. Furthermore she was a key member of the Monotype Brand Team which developed and delivered the company’s well-received re-brand in 2019.
Her love for type and typography is only rivalled by her passion for jewellery design, 3D composition, UX/UI design and good music.
About Alexander Roth
Alexander Roth pursued training in video production, animation, graphic design, typography and type design before joining the world-renowned type foundry, FontFont, as a Font Technician intern. In the following years, he held positions as a Graphic Designer for FontFont, as a Lead Graphic Designer for FontShop and as a Marketing Manager for Monotype’s digital commerce businesses, including FontShop.com, FontFont.com, Linotype.com and MyFonts.com, before joining Monotype’s Type Team and typographic brand consultancy. His portfolio includes work for transportation companies, auto manufactures and government services.
Alexander holds a bachelor’s degree in Media Production, a master’s degree in Type Design from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, a handful of branding certificates, and accolades from the Type Directors Club, New York. He has lived in the Tajik SSR’s capital of Dushanbe, Berlin, Düsseldorf, The Hague and London.
